Ready in a few steps
- Download and unzip Lexi, then drag it into Applications.
- Open Lexi and grant Microphone and Accessibility permission.
- Add your OpenAI API key in Settings, choose a shortcut, and start speaking.
For your other Macs, use the same Apple Account. You can enable Sync API key through iCloud Keychain on your first Mac; turn on iCloud Passwords & Keychain on each device.
Privacy and updates
Audio goes directly to OpenAI for transcription using your API key. Temporary recordings are deleted. Retained text, corrections and usage sync through your private CloudKit database when enabled. Your API key is stored in Keychain, with optional iCloud Keychain sync. Permissions and active clipboard contents remain local to each Mac.
Lexi checks this site for signed updates. You can also use Check for Updates… from its menu. API transcription usage is billed to your OpenAI account.
